I wasn’t at Nighthawks on Thursday.

I spent Thursday night back at UGA with my debate club, Phi Kappa. The topic was whether true crime media undermines American society. We took the negative and won. I had the great honor of being named best alumni speaker. Grad school Phil from 2015 is elated! Profession adult Phil doesn’t want to brag, but here we are.

I mention all of that because it connects to something I’ve been wanting to write about: why Nighthawks exists the way it does.
